"Ih! Boochi boos. You? Him?" Stitch asked, pointing from Astrid to Hiccup and then back again as he spoke. While he did have a limited English vocabulary, he did have an expansive vocabulary of his own language. While he didn't think he had much use for the words, boochi boo would be his equivalent of something relating to a boyfriend and girlfriend. Stitch didn't quite know why he knew such words, but decided not to question it. He was determined to find out if Astrid and Hiccup were together.
Hiccup at least had put together that Stitch seemed determined to make sure he and Astrid stuck together. He moved a step back, trying to make his blush less noticeable all the while. "I still don't know what you're talking about, but me and Astrid... we're just friends. That's... that's all." Hiccup stated. Were they even friends? He at least considered her sort of a friend.

Astrid still didn't comprehend what the blue thing meant, even when he pointed between Hiccup and Astrid. Brother and sister? Noo... but it was slowly to come together, her scared head clearing. Turning her head questioningly to Hiccup, as he took a step back and as Hiccup said they were just friends. Astrid's jaw promptly dropped but collected itself into a thin line.
"Oh..." she gasped, her cheeks burning again. It was the most anyone had ever embarrassed her before, and she wondered if it was healthy to have so much blood flowing to her cheeks so rapidly. Her head whipped from Hiccup to the blue thing, shaking her head slowly, her ponytail whipping at her face. "It's.... not like that." she said only backing up Hiccup's information. "We're... friends." she rolled the world over her tongue, that much could be said, right? They didn't talk much... but trained together and she'd saved his butt in the ring plenty of times. That could be considered friends... right?
She turned her icy glare at the blue creature, trying to convey the utter embarrassment he was causing her. Her arms were now intertwined behind her back. She felt almost awkward standing near Hiccup, unlike how she mostly was, sure footed and confident. For once she didn't trust herself to move, afraid she'd trip. She was also starting to realize what the alien was trying to do... maybe...

Stitch just grinned a bit more, clearly proving he was satisfied with embarrassing the pair of Vikings. But he didn't want to stop there. Oh, no. Stitch really wanted to get them together, even if they were determined to say they were just friends. "Uh huh." Stitch purred, though he really wasn't all that convinced by the friends argument. He climbed down from the rail and moved behind Hiccup. He ignored the redhead's protests and nudged him forward with his snout. He was surprisingly strong for such a small creature. "Dance?" Stitch repeated.
"N-No... we're... we're fine. Really." Hiccup was trying his hardest not to stammer any more and trying harder to keep himself from turning into a ripened tomato with how embarrassed he was becoming. It was bad enough that he had to admire Astrid from afar, only considering her a friend at the most, but having a blue creature that he was uncertain of species-wise suggest that they liked each other as more than friends, and nudging him closer to her on top of that, was just pushing it. "I... I have two left feet! So... so really, I can't... I shouldn't..."
Despite his protests, Stitch moved him just a tiny bit closer. If Rapunzel and Flynn could dance together, then what was stopping the younger pair of teenagers from doing the same? Feeling satisfied with his work on Hiccup, Stitch backed up a step or two to see what would happen next.

Astrid held up her arms in protest as Stitch asked them to dance together. What was up with this creature? Shaking her head vigorously, blonde hair whipping about. But than she felt the air shift as the blue creature edged Hiccup that much closer to her. Boy, it was strong. Her blue eyes widened as it continued to shove Hiccup. She'd never felt so useless or without control.
"Yeah, we're fine, honestly, not necessary." she said attempting to take a step back, "And I don't dance, I fight drago-" and she tripped. Not the normal, easy kind of tripping. The type that took real skill and effort. She tripped forward. In the falling, or tripping action, Astrid wondered how she tripped. She wasn't clumsy, she mostly had amazing balance, able to run atop a wall while carrying her double edged axe. She didn't trip, it was a new feeling, the falling. Probably not as bad as the feeling of falling backward, she knew where she was landing.
Taking a half step to stop, she stuttered to a stop directly infront of Hiccup, her hands flying out to steady herself against him. She was just about sure her face was as red as a tomato and if given the chance, she'd probably take her chances jumping off the boat and swimming back to Berk. She seemed to have better chances that way, and a lot of enthusiasm to get kicking. Her eyes looked down at her hands, the blush deepening. She was tensed, but she was able to look past Hiccup, at the blue furball looking satisfied.

Hiccup had to fight the urge to move away, surprised by the sudden trip and uncertain of how to properly react to it, but in the end he remained still and allowed Astrid to use him as support to steady herself. There was no doubt about it. The blue creature must have been the god Loki in disguise and was tormenting them. For what reason, Hiccup couldn't determine. However, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III wasn't about to let one little setback get the better of him. He wasn't going to let Stitch get to him. Maybe this was the opportunity he had been looking for. Maybe this was what would get him and Astrid closer somehow.
"Hey... you okay?" Hiccup asked quietly as he leaned forward just a tiny bit so that he could see Astrid's face a bit better. There was no doubt about it. He and Astrid must have been the most embarrassed pair at the dance. It was a wonder no one had stopped dancing to stare at the spectacle that was them being tormented by what Hiccup could only assume was a blue-furred god that decided to come from Valhalla to torment them personally. Or just to have some fun. Hiccup couldn't determine what Stitch's motives were.

(ooc: SOO ADORKABLE 8') )
Astrid was gratefully that Hiccup had stayed still, had he moved she was almost positive she would have gone into an ungrateful faceplant on the cool wooden deck. Astrid hadn't associated the blue furred creature as Loki, not yet. She'd never given much thought about the god of mischief, she had no reason to believe he had any interest of the teenagers of Berk. Until, well, now. He must have had something out for her, maybe it was that she took no breaks from training? Or did the god have something out for Hiccup? Maybe the scrawny teen was the only one who was the only one who could win a sarcasm contest with just about anyone.
Astrid looked up, preparing to use two words that weren't often heard from her lips. Two words, starting with t and ending with u. But looking up, she had a breaking of sudden realization. The proximity between the two. The blue creature/god in disguise was probably the happiest, smuggest thing alive at the moment. Astrid nodded her head meekly at Hiccup's question. Peering up with her eyes instead of raising her head.
What ever happens tonight is mom's fault. She remembered the thought she'd first had in her mind upon arrival. If only her mother had known that Loki had decided to make a debut on the party boat. How wrong Astrid was to assume that the worst thing that could happen would be her standing awkwardly at the edge of the dance floor. The blue furred god thingy had succeeded in pushing the two together, that was for sure, as Astrid made no attempt to move.
"Uhm.." she cleared her throat lightly, "Yeah, fine..." she nodded, swallowing as her throat had suddenly gone dry at the prospect of speaking. She peered out of the corners of her eyes, was anyone staring? If they were Astrid would probably throw herself over the side of the boat and start swimming as fast as she could. She might even be able to bring a few eels home for dinner. But it was imagination, seeing as she was stuck to the ground by the led that had suddenly appeared in her shoes.

Stitch cast a single glance back to make sure no one else was observing the teenagers and, once he had confirmed that he was the only one who appeared interested in them, he turned his attention back to them. Some of the mischief had left his smile, but he was still going to make sure that something happened between the two. So far, so good. He had at least accomplished the task of getting them closer together without one of them deciding to move away. Stitch felt proud of that accomplishment.
A couple of moments later, an idea came to him. Maybe they just needed some different music to motivate them. He scurried away, back toward the musicians, and climbed up the railing so that he could communicate his wishes to them. Stitch whispered in their ears, telling them to make the music more fitting of a potentially romantic mood, and scurried down the railing again when he was certain the mood had been set. Now all he had to do was wait.
Hiccup, meanwhile, was taking in that moment as he found himself looking into Astrid's eyes. With the lighting, it was probably the most beautiful thing he had seen all night. In Berk there was rarely anything beautiful that was worth looking at. If anything, they were lucky to have anything to look at at all. This just happened to be a rare occurrence, especially for Hiccup given his status as Gobber's apprentice in the forge and as the scrawniest Viking in all of history. Yet, despite all of those facts, there he was standing stupidly with Astrid closer than he ever could have dreamed and a doofy, if not the least bit happy, smile forming on his face. He barely took notice of the change in music, or the fact that Stitch had left temporarily.
Almost as if his hand was acting on its own, Hiccup found that he was slowly wrapping one hand around Astrid's in an attempt to help her up to a better position. They couldn't just stand there in that position all night now, could they? "I uh... think our blue friend has decided to leave us alone." Hiccup remarked quietly. At the same time he had his doubts. Just what was Stitch up to, and why had the music changed? ...More importantly, why did Hiccup feel the desire to move closer to the dance floor? He'd never danced once in his life. He'd only succeed in making himself look like a fool... right?

Astrid hadn't been able to focus on the blue furred creature's rapid, speedy motions anymore. The girl hadn't realized she was still in the last stage of falling, stuck in the motion and only held by the two feet that were firmly on the ground. Not a comfortable position. The moon finally reaching the peek of it's night, sliding slowly into the comfy spot overhead. The silver light twining down and solid beams.
Her eyes were locked with Hiccup's, having met his bright emerald gaze. She swore she got lighter, and her head gave a small spin. Her legs firmly set under her, except for the fact that she was a balloon, her legs the string, her shoes the weight. Full moon. she thought stupidly. She remembered hearing something about the full moon, that it might have a tendency to cause madness. Was she feeling it's affects? Was light hotheadedness and the feeling that if it weren't for shoes she'd fly head long into the mast of the ship, signs of craziness. A small thing in the back of her mind taunted her telling her she was crazy. Crazy in- she shut it off. Having realized she was still looking into bright green orbs. She couldn't help but smile as well, is doofy grin becoming infectious.
Looking down from Hiccup's eyes, she had realized that the tension in the air had changed. It was like being stuck on a breeze, a slow melody wrapping around the bodies of the pairs on the dance floor. A slow purr of air, pushing, pulling, and grabbing at Astrid's ditzy mind.
Shocked, she felt her hand make contact with skin, the warmth of Hiccup's hand as it wrapped around her own. Accepting the help silently, she gripped his slightly and pulled herself up from the falling action, placing a hand on his shoulder to steady herself. "What?" her eyes flashed confusion as he talked about their blue 'friend.' "OH... yeah..." her head turned she hadn't realized he'd left and gone farther away... She realized why the tension had changed and why there was a loose, feeling to the air. The music had slowed, winding down into a melody, low and dare she think it? No... but she didn't move her hand from Hiccup's shoulder or hand. Her stomach was jumping on it's own giddiness, her feet wanting to agree with it. Trying to pull her to the throng of people still dancing in the midst of the ship.
She wasn't a dancer... she was a fighter, surefooted and confident. She wasn't so sure now. "Uhm... so." she found herself gripping for words picking them from her brain randomly. "Uhmm... want to uhm..." she trailed off. Her brain was obviously affected by the moon, a thick fog seemed to shroud everything coherent and sensible from her lips.

Were this any other occasion, or any other location for that matter, the situation he and Astrid found themselves in probably wouldn't be happening. The fact of the matter was that it was happening, though, and Hiccup could feel his heart hammering against his chest as he looked into Astrid's eyes. He couldn't help himself. There was nowhere else to look, and he was just drawn to them. "...Dance?" Hiccup asked at last, deciding to finish Astrid's unfinished sentence. It seemed silly, really. Just a few moments ago he was telling Stitch that he had two left feet and that he couldn't dance. Yet, there he was getting ready to do so. What tomfoolery was this? Whatever it was, Hiccup couldn't pull himself away. It just felt... right to be there in that moment. Especially with no one else from Berk there to make fun of him and Astrid. Would they make fun? Hiccup didn't even really know.
"S-Sure... I guess we could try it." Hiccup said at length. He honestly had no clue of how to dance, but how hard could it be? It couldn't be any harder than say... slaying a dragon, right? Yeah. Hiccup felt confident that maybe he was just fooling himself into thinking he couldn't dance. After all, he had never really tried it before. There was no sense in just standing there with such... fitting music playing. "I've got to warn you, though. I've... never tried this before." Hiccup admitted. That probably was obvious. In fact, it was obvious that neither of them had danced before. It just wasn't the sort of thing that Astrid would do. She was more of a girl of action rather than a girly girl. Hiccup liked her that way. Though, what harm was there in letting that visage fade away just this once?
"...How should we start?" he asked, feeling more than a little bit stupid for needing to ask. It was one of those moments where he wished his mother had been one of those mothers that insisted that their children learn to dance. Oh well. That ship had set sail long ago, and Hiccup was left standing there wondering how to even begin.

A small pegasus had decided to go exploring, from Equestria. She wanted to see the many animals of the world, however she was not expecting to hear music or to see dancing. Strange creatures, humans she was guessing. Taking a seat on the crow's nest she watched the people, they seemed to be having a good time.
Sinbad stared at his feet, trying as hard as he could not to step on the bare-foot princess, it was not easy, despite having watched so many people as a kid, he had enjoyed watching people dance. Yet, he was never good at it like Proteus. He wasn't fancy like his best friend.

In the sane part of her mind that was left in Astrid's mind, Astrid wondered how this was happening, a thoughtful chuckle sounding in her mind. Any other place, any other time, and especially, any other music, and she was pretty sure Hiccup and her would have said their greetings and parted hurriedly. Part of it must have been that blue creature, Loki in disguise. Astrid felt odd. Not detached (though the part of her that had a tendency to pick on the scrawny red-head seemed to have vanished), and not in the least bit serene. She felt her heat beating, hammering at her rib cage like a caged dragon, but keeping the beats without a steady, decided rhythm. She nodded, swallowing. "Yeah, dance."
But to dance one probably required prior knowledge to dancing, but glancing swiftly around at the people, she picked up a few things that might help. They wouldn't look as graceful as the other.... pairs of dancers, but they'd fit in enough. The slow steady music that the crew were playing tied knots in her stomach. Astrid couldn't help but laugh lightly as Hiccup announced the obvious. He'd never danced before, and neither had she. It just wasn't common in Berk. No one really danced, no one stopped to take the time and come up with nice music to dance to, or dances to dance in general. Heck, the only time she'd seen anyone dance was when one of the adults had gotten happily drunk and toppled over in uneasy steps that must have been his form of dancing. Everyone had laughed. Astrid was happy to see that none of the other teens or vikings had appeared on the ship, it would have been embarrassing, soo embarrassing, but for now her hardened walls were slowly slipping.
"I guess there's a first time for everything." she smiled, her voice nervously happy, if that made any sense. She found her gaze rising to Hiccup's emerald orbs. He was stubborn and extremely sarcastic, but it was Hiccup thing, something Astrid found rather.... likeable. At Hiccup's next question, Astrid didn't really have an answer to. Out of the corners of her eyes she observed how some others were trying to dance. She lifted her arms so that they rested on Hiccup's shoulders, copying the forms of others. "No clue."
She felt that maybe she might now how to dance, if not, well she was a fast learner. It might be a little awkward, but well this interaction itself was awkward, in a different way, not in a bad way. Astrid's icy orbs locked on Hiccup's bright green eyes, and she was left wondering, if Stitch was a satisfied, mischievous fluffball.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,520,true][bg=212c2f]Obviously, the pair of them were going to have to start somewhere. After all, they couldn't just stand there holding on to each other all night. Stitch was bound to notice. In fact, if Hiccup wasn't mistaken, the mischievous blue furball was probably still watching them. Waiting to see what would happen. Well, Hiccup decided he wasn't going to disappoint. He would at least attempt it. Briefly, he let himself look at the other dancers. They all seemed to have a clue about what they were doing. Lucky. Why did he and Astrid have to be the only pair of dancers on the boat that would have no idea what they were doing? It only increased the level of awkwardness. But even from the corner of his eye, Hiccup thought he was getting the basic jist of what they needed to do. Dancing really only looked like spinning around in a circle and holding on to each other. Simple enough. He could do that.
"...Maybe it starts like... this?" Hiccup asked. His feet seemed to be moving on their own, as he had no idea when he had actually moved. Before he knew it he had taken a little step to the side and a tiny step forward, all while holding on to Astrid. He silently hoped that somehow they could make it less awkward. He wondered if it would be easy enough to just figure it out as they went along. His feet seemed to like the idea, but his mind was racing with a panicked sort of 'What the hell are you doing, feet? Give me a second to figure this out!' sort of mindset. Whatever his body and mind were thinking, though, it was clear that sooner or later he and Astrid would have to attempt it and his feet had already set them in motion. Whatever happened, Hiccup was glad that Snotlout and Tuffnut weren't present. They would never let them live it down.

Astrid instinctively matched Hiccup's steps, it didn't come naturally, it was like matching the step of an approaching dragon, except not as tense. And she found she had to take extra care when lifting in placing her feet back on the wooden, deck, no need to stutter in step and trip again. If Hiccup thought his head was racing, his feet running to far ahead, it was much better than the slightly muddled, slower, her feet moving in a steady pace. She turned her head to the spinning couples twirling around the floor. Astrid attempted to mimic them, using the balls of her feet to step, careful not to take to large of steps, or her iron spiked skirt might hit the scrawny teen.
"Yeah. Ehum, yeah... wow." she looked down to Hiccup's feet... and got the impression that they were enthusiastic, while Hiccup himself was as lost as herself. Astrid took a sidestep, and then one forward, continuing the pattern set by the other pairs of feet twirling by. She swallowed, slightly nervous, she was good at many things, but apparently, dancing wasn't one of her strong points. Her blonde hair brushed the sides of her neck, making the impression of something brushing against her. Had Astrid not known that Hiccup and her seemed to have successfully kept a bubble of space, she would have had her head whipping around continuously, searching for the prankster. "are you sure you've never danced before?" stupid question was stupid. Of course he hadn't... right?
The brief image of Hiccup trying to dance with Ruffnut interrupted her thoughts, and a blush appeared on her face. Anger? Embarrassment to have thought of a silly thing..... Anger? Astrid shook her head to herself thoughtfully. Couldn'ta happened... She couldn't help but reflexively look around for the only other girl teen, and unsurprisingly, the other blonde was no where in sight. Thank the gods Tuffnut and Snotlout weren't here either... she wouldn't have liked to find out how well she could throw a punch with bright red cheeks... nor how others would appreciate being splashed by two boys 'falling' overboard.

A small orange haired girl watched the others dancing from her spot on the railing. She didn't mind watching the others dancing. Though for once she wanted someone her own size to dance with her. It was impossible considering how small she was.
Wilbur, like Sinbad was not a dancer, that was for chicks. His mom danced all the time but somehow he felt odd being around a bunch of dancing girls and boys. Sure there were two teenagers his own age but so what. They didn't look like they were enjoying it either

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,520,true][bg=212c2f]Hey, hey, HEY. Just give me a second to think about this! SLOW THE HELL DOWN!
Finally it seemed his feet were willing to listen. Cooperating at last, Hiccup found himself relaxing more. Not that it made the whole thing any better. He could just hear Snotlout and Tuffnut mocking them forever and ever because of this one dance. Regardless, Hiccup thought maybe, just maybe, he was getting the hang of it. His movements were awkward, there was no doubt about that, but it at least resembled dancing. "S-Sorry... I uh... I'm new at this." Hiccup stammered, feeling the heat return to his cheeks as he stared stupidly at the flooring. Way to state the obvious, Hiccup. he chided silently. "When this is over, I say we punt that blue thing." he stated. It was Stitch's fault, after all. If it weren't for him they wouldn't be doing any of this.
"I don't even know what the hell I was just doing. My feet kind of just... moved on their own." he admitted foolishly. There was no doubt that must have sounded stupid. He couldn't help it. He needed to say something to try and make up for the doofery that had just gone on. At least Hiccup seemed to have maintained control of his body again.
No wonder she doesn't do stuff with you more often. Not only are you the most unViking-like person in the history of ever, you're a complete doofus. |
